Job Information:

Embria Health Sciences, dedicated to creating and manufacturing natural, science-based ingredients that support wellness and vitality, is seeking to hire a night shift Operator located in Ankeny, Iowa.

The Operator is responsible for the set up and sensitization of manufacturing equipment as well as ensuring that a quality product is produced efficiently, on time, and according to specifications. They will maintain a clean and organized facility according to required GMP standards and EHS procedures. They are also responsible for preparing products for shipment via LTL, UPS and FedEx as well as receiving deliveries.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

•High school education or equivalent and three years of related experience.
•Preference will be given to individuals who possess boiler operations, stainless steel welding and fabrication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
Include but are not limited to the following.  Other duties may be assigned as needed.
•Operates computerized processes according to established procedure to prepare product to specifications.
•Demonstrates knowledge and adheres to sanitation and hygiene practices and procedures of EHS.
•Demonstrates knowledge and adheres to safe practices for chemical handling and usage.
•Assures all required process formulations and documentation are complete and accurate.
•Extracts and tests samples to maintain accuracy of process control and make necessary adjustments.
•Cleans work area as specified to sanitation levels required under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
•Performs routine equipment maintenance, repairs and adjustments.
•Conducts periodic sanitation inspections.
•Weekend and night work will be required.
•Operates forklift and other mechanical equipment in safe manner.

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:
•Adherence to product specifications, efficiency of operations, timeliness of production, cleanliness of facility and equipment.
•Completion of necessary documentation and record keeping as outlined in procedures.
•Reliability and regularity of attendance.
•Performance of job in a safe and efficient manner.
•Maintaining the GMP status of the facility as well as meeting FDA, hygiene and other regulatory guidelines.
•Effectiveness of communications and working relationships with others at the company.
•Ability to maintain the confidentiality of product recipes, manufacturing processes, confidential formulas and procedures.

STAFFING RELATIONSHIPS:
•Reports to the Production Manager.
•Works closely with office and laboratory personnel to ensure a quality product is produced according to specifications and on time.
•Frequent contact with UPS, FedEx and truck drivers.
•Will have some contact with third party auditors and inspectors during facility certification audits.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education, Experience and Skills:

•High school education or equivalent and three years of related experience.
•Preference will be given to individuals who possess boiler operations, stainless steel welding and fabrication skills.
•Must be able to operate a variety of machines including microprocessor based batching equipment, forklift, mixers, pumps, hand and power tools, grinder, scale, dryers, moisture testers and meters.
•Read and follow written directions.
•Perform basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, figure fractions and percentages).
•Be able to obtain certification to handle fumigants and pesticides.

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:
•Frequently lift up to 75-pound bags of product to a height of 36 inches.
•Follow procedures and work in a safe and efficient manner.
•Position involves frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling to transport product and working with and on equipment operated.
•Must be able to hear equipment as it is operating to detect problems.
•Visual acuity is needed to read gauges and monitor computerized controls.
•Frequent exposure to heat, noise, dust, dampness, and potentially hazardous equipment and materials with moving parts.
•Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures with appropriate safety equipment, procedures and SOP’s.
•Will be exposed to chemicals such as acids and caustics for both pH control and cleaning while wearing proper personal protective equipment.
