Leepfrog Technologies, Inc. provides its CourseLeaf software to more than 270 of the nation’s most academically complex colleges and universities to manage their academic catalogs, curriculum, section scheduling, and student course search requirements.

The Consultant Manager performs consultant duties in addition to overseeing and leading the work of the Consulting Team (internally known as the “Pilot Team”). The team is responsible for evaluating client needs, mapping functional requirements, proposing solutions, determining scope, and communicating internally about the project and its solution.

They will work with the client to refine the initial specifications for implementing and customizing CourseLeaf modules to help the client achieve the exact product they want.  They will maintain high client satisfaction by helping to uncover the needs of clients and present CourseLeaf solutions.

  • Produce a detailed plan outlining specifically how CourseLeaf software will be used to meet client needs
    • Evaluate and understand individual client’s unique business and technical requirements.
    • Plan and lead client implementation meetings over one to two day sessions.
    • Storyboard and brainstorm how baseline software functionality can meet client goals.
    • Develop effective solutions and options using CourseLeaf software to meet client needs.
    • Document and communicate product scope to both clients and Leepfrog staff, including calculating and predicting project work.
  • Assist in sales efforts with account executives
    • Evaluate needs of potential clients and explaining how the CourseLeaf software can be used to meet needs.
    • Present/communicate company solutions, products and services to clients that are outside of existing contract scope, and recommend additional products.
    • Identify and authorize expansion of the scope of a project through additional costs and customizations.
  • Recommend additions to software baseline functionality
    • Secure approval of senior management.
    • Work with developers to implement recommended additions.
    • Create and maintain a rich documentation set of implications and functional results that new users to the software can use.
  • Understand and stay current on the CourseLeaf product suite. Maintain familiarity with common academic policies, including course governance, accreditation, scheduling and/or institutional reporting requirements and how those situations may map to CourseLeaf.
  • Lead and manage the Pilot Team
    • Provide long term strategic direction to the team
    • Ensure team is maintaining high quality/client satisfaction
  • Coordinate priorities for Pilot Representatives and monitor the execution of assignments.
  • Implement processes, structure, and training for the Pilot Team and provide a cohesive approach for the team.
  • Supervise and motivate Pilot Team. This includes:
    • Resolving employee issues and acting as the employees’ advocate.
    • Participate in short and long term planning for the team.
    • Provide regular feedback to individual team members, including performance reviews.
  • Manage approval/denial of Pilot Team time off requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent analytic and client orientation skills: able to understand client requirements and translate them into options and solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: convey project scope in clear, concise terms.
  • Strong presentation skills: ability to lead potential clients through the process during day-long on-site sessions.
  • Strong technical skills: understand CourseLeaf software functionality and how the software can be used to solve client problems.
  • Strong management: ability to manage staff, senior leadership, and work across the organization.
  • Ability to operate independently, and with little supervision: self-starter in fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with strong work ethic.
  • Ability to lead and inspire strong results from our Pilot Team.

Bachelor’s degree is required.  A minimum of 4+ years’ experience in computer software consulting role and 4+ years' experience in a manager role of software or consultants or equivalent combination of experience is required.  Above average knowledge of web systems, tools, and applications is required.  Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS) and curriculum development is strongly preferred.  High proficiency with MSOffice and web-based presentation tools a plus. The ideal candidate will have a combination of strong leadership and interpersonal skills, strong grasp of technology, and demonstrated ability to balance client needs with project scope.

Leepfrog Technologies is a flexible, team-oriented environment.  The ideal candidate must be able to operate in an entrepreneurial, small company environment with the ability to adjust to client schedules.

Physical Requirements
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time. The Consultant Manager must be able to navigate airports, and locate client facilities.  As part of the travel required, should occasionally be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for six to eight hours.

When working in the corporate office, this position is generally considered sedentary. The Consultant Manager will spend much of their time meeting and coordinating between various teams, and sitting and using computers. The Consultant Manager will have their own office, but will be faced with regular interruptions.
