Job Information:

The University of Iowa Accounts Payable, Travel and Procurement Card unit is responsible for over $1.3B in payments annually. The Director of Accounts Payable and Travel is responsible for processing and reviewing all invoices, credits, match exceptions, receipts and payment processing for the University of Iowa. Position will manage and administrate the daily operations of Accounts Payable and Procurement Card Program. Supervision of staff and monitoring workloads in each area to ensure all processes meet the requirements of internal and state auditors. Position will be responsible for supporting the Accounts Payable software, Payment Plus, EDI, Jaeggar, and ProTrav system. Effectively use analytical tools to measure key performance metrics. Participate on teams to implement new processes and systems. Ensure compliance with Federal and State Laws, Regents and University policies and procedures and the University's Strategic plan, plus departmental and divisional mission statements.

Required Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Three years experience in procurement and accounts payable processes is required.
  • Three years supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience working with Purchasing and contracting processes.
  • Must be proficient in computer software applications.
  • Good organizational and analytical/statistical skills are required.
  • Strong customer service skills are required.
  • Demonstrated experience promoting a diverse workforce/academic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, such as Excel and Word, are required.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Accounts Payable, Shared Services and automated Payables, Payment and Procurement card system is desirable.
  • Experience with Shared Services implementation and operations is desirable.
  • Some experience with MS Access is desirable.
  • Knowledge of University business policies and procedures are desirable.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft/Oracle Accounts Payable module is desirable.
