Associate Director, Building Operations & Maintenance

The University of Iowa department of Facilities Management seeks an Associate Director, Building Operations & Maintenance. This position will lead the organization in guaranteeing the continuity of university building operations by ensuring all facilities function at optimal levels. Plans, organizes, and directs the operations, maintenance, and repair of buildings and provides expert advice on the stewardship of nearly 9 million square feet of General Education Fund (GEF) supported buildings. Will emphasize and ensure responsive, timely, thorough, efficient, cost effective and optimized facilities operations for more than 120 major buildings supporting eleven UI academic colleges and several supporting departments.
This leadership role will champion Facilities Management’s pursuit of leveraging data analytics to move the organization from primarily a reactive organization to one that is centered on planned, preventative and predictive maintenance. The redesigned Building Operations & Maintenance organization will consist of approximately 75 individuals providing services ranging from building repairs to environmental controls to operational data analytics. Reporting to the Director of Building & Landscape Services, the successful candidate will lead a newly formed unit through the transformational change of centering its mission on adopting best practices for preventive maintenance, planned and scheduled corrective work, predictive analytics, continuous commissioning, retro-commissioning, energy management, and planning for the of renewal of existing physical assets.
Qualifications include a Master's degree plus 5-7 years’ related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also fulfill these required qualifications.
