Contract Administrator
We are seeking a full-time Contract Administrator to join the staff of a thriving research administration office in a BIG10 institution of higher education. Working in a team environment, the Contract Administrator position with the University of Iowa’s Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP) provides contract negotiation and other administrative support for faculty and staff engaged in research and related activities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft, negotiate and administer research related agreements.
  • Use independent judgment to determine and negotiate acceptable terms for a variety of contracts including funding agreements, data use agreements, confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements and outgoing subawards.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and University policies and procedures.
  • Gather and interpret relevant information to identify and solve problems.

Education or Equivalency Required

A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to set priorities and adjust strategies to changing needs.
  • Customer-focused and dedicated to providing optimum service. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Is able to handle a large workload. 
  • Demonstrates independent judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work within a team and alone or with limited guidance, as appropriate.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in contract administration or related field such as legal, accounting, finance or technical writing.
  • Experience working in a legal setting. 
  • Juris Doctor (JD) strongly preferred.
