The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Iowa is accepting applications for a full-time, permanent Case Administrator II. This position is located in the Bankruptcy Clerk's Office in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and reports to the Chief Deputy. The incumbent manages the progression of bankruptcy cases in a Case Management/Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) system.

The Case Administrator is a fully proficient member of a team that manages the progression of bankruptcy cases and related adversary proceeding cases from intake/case opening to final disposition by maintaining the official case records, monitoring the completion of the required procedural steps, and performing the necessary noticing, administrative and clerical tasks.

The position will include a starting salary range: $40,464 - $50,176.

The Position The Case Administrator II’s duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Performs quality control review of e-filed and conventionally filed documents and runs daily reports, monitors deadlines and takes appropriate action to ensure accuracy and adherence to rules, practices and filing requirements. Scans and dockets conventionally filed documents.

• Reviews all newly filed adversary proceedings to ensure that summons have been properly issued, and monitors progress.

• Manages the progression of cases, including involuntary and/or cases that convert from one chapter to another, to ensure completion of required procedural steps.

• Updates creditor and claims databases, noting objections, orders, assignments, or withdrawals on claims register.

• Processes assignments of claims in accordance with established procedures and prepares required notices.

• Responsible for ensuring that "reportable matters" are properly docketed and timely prepares appropriate deficiency notices.

• Ensures that meeting of creditors and other court notices are accurately and timely generated and transmitted to the Bankruptcy Noticing Center.

• Performs intake, cashiering and mail duties on a rotational basis.

• Provides top quality service to our internal/external customers.

• Performs electronic court recording duties as needed.

Qualification Standards 

To qualify for this position, an applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related area is highly preferred but not required.

In addition, a prospective candidate should have a minimum of two years of specialized experience requiring the regular and recurring application of clerical procedures involving the routine use of keyboard skills and use of specialized terminology, and demonstrated ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives or laws during the course of performing his or her duties. Such experience is commonly encountered in law firms, legal counsel offices, banking and credit firms, educational institutions, social service organizations, insurance companies, real estate and title offices, and corporate headquarters or human resources/payroll operations.

Applicable experience should also include a positive customer service orientation,

record-keeping, and regular use of a computer and other office equipment. The ability to professionally represent the Court in communications with attorneys, trustees, debtors, and the public is required. The ability to handle a large volume of work is desired, as are accurate data entry skills and skill in the use of automated systems. Good proofreading skills are essential. Experience in a federal court or legal setting is desired, but not required.

The successful candidate must also possess excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, and unquestioned integrity with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.

All positions in the Clerk’s office are Excepted Service Appointments and are "at will" and can be terminated with or without cause by the Court.

Selection Process 

The most qualified applicants will be invited to one (or more) personal interviews with the Court. Persons selected for interviews will be required to travel to the designated location at their own expense. The court is not authorized to reimburse candidates for travel or relocation expenses.
