Residential Officer

LOCATION: Cedar Rapids, IA
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
A direct service provider in a 24 hour community based corrections facility, which includes high contact interactions with residents. Elicits and supports pro-social behaviors with the focus on programming to reduce recidivism and preparing residents for successful community reentry. The work requires the use of independent judgement, initiative, teamwork, communication, balanced approach of treatment and supervision, and developing quality relationships with clients.
EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications will require a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of human services or criminal justice experience OR two years of college OR any equivalent combination of college and human services or criminal justice experience to equal two years.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver’s license
- Insurable under the district’s automobile insurance policy
- Bilingual preferred
HOURS:
- Multiple positions available
NOTE: Due to Federal Bureau of Prisons contract, the Bureau of Prisons must complete a criminal background check and approve hire.
