Senior Application Developers-Epic Clinical Applications, Telemedicine

Job Information:

UI Health Care Information Systems is seeking experienced Epic Senior Application Developers, Telemedicine to provide technical leadership, direction, and technical support for the development, configuration and ongoing maintenance of telemedicine offerings and the integration into clinical and business operation supported by Epic and ERP systems. Core job duties include:
  • Collaborate with application owners, stakeholders, vendors and information system teams to identify critical functional requirements for new or revised applications and telemedicine offerings and strategies.
  • Recommend technical design and procedures for new or revised applications related to Epic and telemedicine.
  • Research, review, troubleshoot and analyze system opportunities and problems to identify solutions and/or make appropriate referrals.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans associated with system development, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Develop and maintain documentation to ensure recovery capability, as well as satisfactory and stable performance of the platform(s) and all applications and processes.
  • May provide administrative and/or functional supervision over assigned staff (Senior level)
  • Wear a pager and provide some 24x7 on-call support.
  • Travel to customer sites for sustained periods of time to support application implementation, upgrade, and or optimization.  
Salary and Benefits:
  • Work to be performed onsite at the UI Health Care Support Services Building, 3281 Ridgeway Drive, Coralville, IA 52241.  
  • Salary range is $65,000 to $95,412 for Senior Application Developer (PIA3)

  • Probationary period, if applicable, to be communicated at time of offer.  
Education Required:
Bachelor’s in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related application development/support experience.  
Experience Required:
  • Experience in the development and/or support of applications used by non-technical customers to support and enhance healthcare workflows processes

    • typically 5-7 years for Senior Developer in leadership roles including experience with programming tools and a comprehensive understanding of database technologies  
Other Requirements:
  • Experience contributing to the support, configuration and development of at least one Epic-specific healthcare enterprise application 
  • Experience working with application owners and/or vendors to analyze system and integration requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with basic project management
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical staff; and 
  • Demonstrated job-related experience and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment  
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting an EHR in a rural ambulatory or hospital setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with any of the following workflows: scheduling, referrals, ambulatory or inpatient clinical documentation, patient EHR portals, and telemedicine
  • Epic certification(s) related but not limited to the following:  EpicCare Ambulatory, EpicCare Inpatient, EpicCare Procedure Orders, Epic MyChart, Epic Prelude, Cadence, Referrals
  • Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical staff on system implementation projects
  • Proven ability to write application test scripts
  • Experience implementing videoconferencing solutions for business/ healthcare.
