Senior / Application Developers - Epic Clinical Applications

Job Information:

UI Health Care Information Systems is seeking experienced Epic Senior/Application Developers to provide technical leadership and support for the development, configuration and ongoing maintenance of Community Connect EpicCare and Epic ASAP, Optime, Radiant and Beaker software modules. Multiple positions are available to be filled as Senior Application Developer (PIA3) or Application Developer (PIA2) based on candidate qualifications. Core job duties include:
  • Collaborate with application owners and stakeholders to identify critical functional requirements for new or revised clinical applications.
  • Recommend technical design and procedures for new or revised applications.
  • Configure and customize applications; may write program code or scripts.
  • Review and analyze system problems to identify solutions and/or make appropriate referrals.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans associated with system development, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Develop and maintain documentation to ensure recovery capability, as well as satisfactory and stable performance of the platform(s) and all applications and processes.
  • May provide direction, assignments, feedback, coaching, and counseling to junior staff to assure outcomes are achieved (Senior level)
  • Wear a pager and provide some 24x7 on-call support.
  • Travel to customer sites for sustained periods of time to support application implementation, upgrade, and/or optimization.
Salary and Benefits:
  • Work to be performed onsite at the UI Health Care Support Services Building, 3281 Ridgeway Drive, Coralville, IA 52241.
  • Salary range is $65,000 to $95,412 for Senior Application Developer (PIA3); $50,452 to $75,857 for Application Developer role (PIA2)
  • Permanent salaried positions with a generous fringe benefit package including 24 days paid vacation; sick leave; health, dental, life and disability insurance options; and employer contributions into retirement plans.
  • Probationary period, if applicable, to be communicated at time of offer.
 
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related application development/support experience.
Experience Required:
  • Experience in the development and/or support of applications used by non-technical customers to support and enhance healthcare workflows processes

    • typically 5-7 years for Senior Developer in leadership roles including experience with programming tools and a comprehensive understanding of database technologies
    • typically 3-5 years of some current relevant experience for Application Developer
Other Requirements:
  • Experience contributing to the support, configuration and development of at least one Epic-specific healthcare enterprise application
  • Experience working with application owners and/or vendors to analyze system and integration requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with basic project management
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical staff; and
  • Demonstrated job-related experience and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting an EHR in a rural ambulatory or hospital setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with any of the following workflows: ambulatory or inpatient clinical documentation; emergency department or ancillary services such as social work, respiratory therapy or rehabilitation services; and radiology, laboratory, and/or surgical or procedural workflows.
  • Epic certification(s) related but not limited to the following: EpicCare Ambulatory, EpicCare Inpatient, EpicCare Procedure Orders, Epic ASAP, Epic Optime, Epic Beaker, Epic Radiant
  • Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical staff on system implementation projects
  • Proven ability to write application test scripts
  • Experience troubleshooting HL7 interfaces
