Application Developer – Epic Health Information Management (HIM) Modules

Job Information:

UI Health Care Information Systems is seeking an experienced Application Developer to join a project team implementing and supporting Epic Health Information Management (HIM) application software. Core job duties include:
  • Collaborate with vendor staff and subject matter experts to analyze system and interface requirements.
  • Create functional/technical specifications for system build,
  • Configure and customize application and integrated system build
  • Validate interfaces, system, and report build
  • Resolve complex system problems
  • Perform unit and integrated testing.
  • Troubleshoot/debug and identify system errors. Implement fixes.
  • Develop and maintain testing scripts for execution during system upgrade cycles
  • Obtain Epic certification in modules applicable to position within 6 months following training.
Salary and Benefits:
  • Permanent salaried position located at the UI Health Care Support Services Building in Coralville, Iowa
  • Salary range is $50,452 to commensurate for Application Developer role.

Education Required:
Bachelor’s in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related application development/support experience.
Experience Required:
  • Experience in the development and/or support of applications used by non-technical customers to support and enhance business processes

    • typically 3-5 years for Application Developer
Other Requirements:
  • Experience working with end-users to define system requirements and understand business needs;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical staff; and
  • Ability to wear a pager and provide some 24x7 on-call support
  • Demonstrated job-related experience and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Epic Health Information Management (HIM) certification is highly desirable. This includes but is not limited to: Epic Hospital Coding, Epic Deficiency Tracking, Epic Release of Information (ROI), Epic Identity
  • Experience with 3M Coding and Grouping products is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Health Information Management workflows and practices is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a healthcare or health related industry
  • Experience working with, supporting or developing applications for an electronic health record
