IT Business Analyst

Job Information:

The IT Business Analyst will facilitate the business analysis process to identify business requirements for system solutions or improved processes that will increase efficiency, productivity, and value to the JM Swank business.  He or she will also be responsible for translating business needs to IT solutions, and vice versa, with current programs, projects, and initiatives in mind.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as key liaison to other departments that have specific business functions
  • Collaborate with departments to identify, document and communicate business needs and provide IT solutions
  • Plan, elicit, capture, analyze and validate business, functional and technical requirements
  • Facilitate requirements elicitation sessions and walkthroughs with business and IT resources
  • Perform current state analysis of existing business systems, applications and functions
  • Produce timely and high-quality requirements-related work products, including requirement specifications, functional specs, process flows and mock-ups
  • Answer questions and clarify requirements for projects and enhancements during the initiation phase
  • Become deeply immersed and knowledgeable about core business functions, processes and workflows associated with assigned business areas and projects
  • Understand the relationships, dependencies and impact of neighboring business functions.
  • Understand core systems, applications and technical platforms
  • Document, analyze and assess current business processes and underlying systems / applications
  • Collaborate with other departments and IT to develop business cases, project charters, and functional specification associated with new project requests
  • Review technical designs to ensure that business needs are being met
  • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement efforts
  • Responsible for documenting, maintaining, operating, and continuously improving IT Change Control Process including the recommendation, development, and implementation of policies, procedures and standards related to Change Control

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in IT or a business area discipline (i.e., accounting, business), and at least two (2) years of industry experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of related education and/or experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in business systems analysis, with at least two (2) years of experience managing technical projects in a complex environment preferred
  • Highly analytical, passion for details, and capable of translating analytical insights into action
  • Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team or cross-functional environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical projects following a Solution Development Life Cycle (SDLC) approach
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office
  • Experience within Microsoft Dynamics AX7 and/or Dynamics CRM Online preferred
  • Experience with transportation management, warehouse management, and document management systems preferred
  • Ability to effectively resolve issues in a timely manner using sound judgment, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and influencing skills
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of technical projects to deliver business value on a timely basis in a fast paced organization
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members
  • Extreme attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize (with changing priorities), multi-task, address issues quickly and professionally, and meet deadlines
  • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to interact with team members at all levels of the organization
  • Initiative, flexibility, and adaptability
