LINN COUNTY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Full-time position to prepare and update digital maps, map layers and their associated databases within and using the Linn County Geographic Information System (GIS).  Work is performed under general supervision.  Operates Geographic Information System (GIS) and performs routine work.  Assists in map production and data analysis.  Drafts, collects and processes location-based data using various techniques including, but not limited to, the use of legal documents, GPS equipment and/or aerial photography to complete tasks.  Assists in preparation and maintenance of data records in related databases.  Maintains and creates map data layers.  Provides customer service that is professional, courteous and responsive.  Works accurately and pays attention to detail while working with documents and information.  Performs all other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:           
 Associate’s degree in GIS, geography, computer science, survey, engineering or a closely related field and one (1) year experience working within a GIS environment; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.  GIS Certification is desired.  Working knowledge of the operation, care and maintenance of a Geographic Information System (GIS) and relational geo-spatial data.  Knowledge and ability to collect and process GPS data.  Ability to reason and think logically.  Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations.  Ability to understand and follow oral and written procedures and instructions.  Must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment.  Regular work attendance required.
 
SHIFT:  8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday
 
SALARY:  $19.19/hour
