Database Analyst / Windows Server Associate

Job Information:

Responsible for both database analysis and windows server administration.  The database function has the primary responsibility to create, maintain, and support County-wide databases.  The Windows server function has the responsibility to maintain integrity and security as well as train and support all Windows servers.  Create and maintain County-wide SQL databases.  Analyze database performance and determine course of action for tuning databases.  Involved with database designing for projects; databases need to meet relational database standards.  Maintain database security through groups and users, using SQL group/user functionality and/or the use of Active Directory.  Provide technical support for the database environment.  Maintain database proper backup and recovery procedures for countywide databases.  Support all Windows servers including connectivity and communication.  Maintain DNS, DHCP, domain controllers, Active Directory, Exchange, IIS, file servers, and print servers.  Monitor system logs and activity on all servers.  Analyze and repair defective server hardware.  Maintain security levels on all servers to appropriate access levels.  Research, install, and test all Windows server security patches.  Maintain hardware inventory documentation.  Assist in maintaining service level agreements.  Perform other related duties as required.

Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science or a computer-related field) is preferred. Associate’s Degree (Business, Telecommunications, or Technology) is acceptable with IT related certifications (Server+, MCTS MCITP, MCDBA, MCSE, or MCSA).Certifications must be made current or completed within twelve (12) months of employment. SQL Server 2008 or later with database administration. Comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental concepts and practices used with relational databases design and deployment. Understanding of proper query structuring and syntax. Knowledge of SQL performance and analysis tools. Knowledge of Windows Server OS and Active Directory organization including installation and configuring.. Knowledge of system level security procedures including standards for workgroup concepts in an Active directory environment. Experience in documenting proper database structure including the creation of database flow and diagramming documentation. Experience in Windows Server platforms (2008 or later), Exchange (2010 or later), and IIS. Experience in enterprise level LAN/WAN environment; NTFS, Group Permissions, Network Security, TCP/IP, DHCP, WINS, DNS, e-mail, web servers, file servers, and print servers. Knowledge of Standard Backup infrastructures. Knowledge of Performance and Network Monitoring tools. Knowledge of Virus Protection tools. Knowledge of XML, & XSLT. Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) via Visual Studio (2008 or later). Understanding of MSSQL Reporting, Management, Tool Services. Experience in Microsoft SQL 2008 or later.  Excellent technical communication skills to convey information to end users both orally and in written format.  Ability to handle multiple tasks and pay attention to details.  Ability to work independently and as a team member.  Ability to learn new technologies quickly and resolve any problems involved in integration of new technologies with established systems. Tests will be required after offer of employment.  Must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment.  Regular work attendance required.  Attendance during off hours may be required.
SHIFT:              8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
SALARY:       $34.70/hour
