Senior / Application Developer

Job Information:

UI Health Care Information Systems is seeking experienced Senior/Application Developers to join a project team implementing and supporting Epic revenue cycle application software for patient billing and claims. Positions to be filled as Senior Application Developer (PIA3) or Application Developer (PIA2) based on candidate qualifications. Core job duties include:
•Collaborate with vendor staff and subject matter experts to analyze system and interface requirements.
•Create functional/technical specifications for system build,
•Configure and customize application and integrated system build
•Validate interfaces, system, and report build
•Resolve complex system problems
•Perform unit and integrated testing.
•Troubleshoot/debug and identify system errors. Implement fixes.
•Develop and maintain testing scripts for execution during system upgrade cycles

Salary and Benefits:
•Permanent salaried positions located on the UI Health Care Campus in Iowa City, Iowa.
•Salary range is $65,000 to commensurate for Senior Application Developer role; $50,201 to commensurate for Application Developer role.

Education Required:
Bachelor’s in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related application development/support experience.

Experience Required:
•Experience in the development and/or support of applications used by non-technical customers to support and enhance business processes
•typically 3-5 years for Application Developer
•typically 5-7 years for Senior Developers in leadership roles including experience with programming tools and a comprehensive understanding of database technologies
(e.g., Caché, SQL Server)

Other Requirements:
•Experience working with end-users to define system requirements and understand business needs;
•Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical staff; and
•Ability to wear a pager and provide some 24x7 on-call support
•Demonstrated job-related experience and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment

Desirable Qualifications:
•Familiarity with health care revenue cycle practices
•Experience with hospital/physician billing systems or physician office management systems.
•Epic Professional Billing, Hospital Billing, or Claims certification is highly desirable.
