Network Engineer

Job Information:

The Network Systems Engineer will be a key member of the team responsible for the company's IP and Ethernet data networks.  These systems include management of various networking services and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, Sendmail, TACACS, RADIUS and SNMP as well as proper traffic and QOS management of customer services.  The position will be responsible for providing 24x7 hardware, software, OS, and networking support for systems used to provide Internet, VoIP, analog and digital television services, and Public Switched Telephone Network access.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
  • Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughout, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
  • Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  • Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
  • Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.
  • Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
  • Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Provides next level support to multiple teams and departments within the organization.

We are looking for people with:
  • College degree in Information Technology or Telecommunications discipline, or related military training and experience, or 7 years documented industry experience
  • Minimum 3 years of network system administration experience in  a service provider and/or enterprise environment
  • Demonstrated experience with IP Addressing, switching, routing and carrier class services
  • Experience with operating and maintaining various security systems and access methods such as:  IPSEC, RADIUS, SSH, SSL, and TACACS
  • Enterprise experience with DNS, DHCP, and NTP with demonstrated ability to configure, maintain and repair as necessary
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record.
