Systems Administrator / Programmer

Benchmark, Inc. is looking for an administrator/programmer – a “jack-of-all trades” technician who thrives on learning new systems and expanding their knowledge to multiple corners of the IT universe, and who is interested in joining a small but talented and dedicated team of IT professionals.

Primary Purpose of the Position

The Systems Administrator – Programmer role is a front line, customer-facing position. The daily duties for this position are primarily in the areas of Benchmark proprietary data management and development, access management, network and server equipment configuration, alert monitoring, problem resolution, and training, in support of the Benchmark Mission Statement.  The division between programming and administrative time will be ever-changing and dependent on company needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This is a hybrid position and will have core responsibilities in the area of system/network administration and programming.

Windows System and Network Administration

Benchmark’s network consists of:

•2 physical office sites, multiple off-site users
•6 physical / 20 virtual servers (Hyper-V)
•106 users / 150 devices
•L2 switching
•Limited firewall/routing
•Limited Wi-Fi networking
•Limited VLAN setups
•On-premise Exchange Server 2010, SQL Server 2014
•Veeam backup software

We need you to:
•Be able to work with all of the above
•Manage, update, and support Benchmark's proprietary data systems
•Be comfortable using Active Directory management and configuration tools
•Handle user accounts from creation thru to removal/archiving
•Setup/configure hardware (desktops, laptops, phones, tablets) and software
•Use/configure/train users on retail applications (MSOffice, etc.) and internal proprietary applications
•Monitor company assets and respond when thresholds are exceeded
•Handle a wide variety of helpdesk requests
•Switch between team and individual projects easily
•Perform other duties as required

As a plus:
•Experience with Deltek ERP

Programming

Our environment:
•IIS-based web applications and Windows apps developed with Visual Studio 2015
•MSOffice-based applications (Excel, Word, Access) built with Visual Basic for Applications
•SQL Server (T-SQL and CLR)

We need you to:
•Learn the company's core operations and adapt/create technology to facilitate business functions
•Work individually and with other programmers in the completion of these goals
•Be able to recommend alternative approaches to current programming practices
•Maintain and improve on the customer intimacy of our custom-built applications

As a plus:
•Mobile app development experience (iOS, Android), Deltek ERP API experience

Phone System Administration
•NEC Aspire hybrid PBX (two office locations)

Educational and Experience Requirements
An Associate’s degree in an information technology- related area and/or 5+ years of directly related work experience. Additional requirements include:

•2 years of experience with Windows-based desktop, server and networking equipment
•3 years of experience programming web or desktop solutions with Visual Studio (VB, C#, etc.)

•Proven strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
•Ability to prioritize project level tasks effectively
•Ability to manage multiple projects and operational tasks simultaneously
•Strong customer service skills

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time.  Dexterity of hands and fingers are required to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components.  The team member frequently is required to lift and transport up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or transport up to 50 pounds.  Valid driver’s license is required to facilitate onsite support at various locations. Occasional overnight travel may be required (3-4 times per year).
