TrueNorth is searching for a Safety & Loss Control Specialist to support Risk Management clients and accounts. The Safety & Loss Control Specialist has the ability to work from the West Des Moines office or the Cedar Rapids office.
The Safety & Loss Control Specialist guides TrueNorth clients to establish, implement, and maintain a customized "Culture of Safety" in their workplace. The Safety & Loss Control Specialist serves as the program manager to ensure clients have proper resources to instill a safety culture that will transform employee's behavior, increase productivity, and minimize injuries, losses, and compliance issues.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct on-site consultative visits with clients to assess strengths and weaknesses of current safety culture
  • Lead and/or guide program implementation and provide education on the value of investing in a "Culture of Safety"
  • Develop customized safety programs that define processes for leadership and employees
  • Define, measure and manage ongoing safety initiatives and programs
  • Partner with the production team to create and present client proposals
  • Complete Stewardship Reports to give clients feedback and propose action plans to stay aligned with client strategy and goals
  • Document client communication in CRM and communicate follow-up plans to involved parties
  • Schedule, plan and deliver educational seminars onsite and via webinar
  • Collect and analyze claims data, compliance data, safety data and telematics to identify trends and issues in order to make recommendations to client for additional training procedures and safety measures, in an effort to reduce operational risks
  • Provide educational materials and resources to assist in changing workplace behaviors
  • Create and/or modify training materials (PowerPoint, handouts, employee communications, etc.) and facilitate trainings and meetings to better assist internal and external clients
  • Coordinate and communicate plans with carrier loss control partners
  • Maintain detailed calendar in Microsoft Outlook with internal and external meetings
  • Travel as needed, up to 50% of time, to support client initiatives, visit key prospects, build carrier relationships and participate in industry events/trade shows, etc.
Required Experience & Skills:
  • College degree preferred, in Risk Management, Occupational Safety or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in Risk Management or workplace safety is required
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and MSHA is strongly preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Maintain knowledge of industry, government requirements and tools and resources available to assist clients with safety and culture programs
  • Proficiency in RMIS systems and Microsoft Office; specifically intermediate Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook skills
  • Collaborative team player; proven ability to work with many groups to collectively propose solutions
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal; proven ability to listen to the business issues that need solved and clearly/concisely articulate ideas and resolutions to individuals, groups of people in a training environment and/or decision makers
