TrueNorth, an Insurance and Financial Strategies firm headquartered in downtown Cedar Rapids, has an immediate opening for a Senior Claims Advocate supporting our Risk Management division. The primary responsibility of the Senior Claims Advocate is to assist Risk Management Commercial clients with claims needs, acting as a liaison between the client and the insurance carrier. The Senior Claims Advocate will act as an advocate on the client's behalf in getting claims handled in a fair and efficient manner.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Proactively communicate the status of claims and advocacy efforts to our clients and insurance carriers
  • Ability to collect information and document in our agency management systems
  • Provide assistance and work collaboratively with client to accurately prepare claims documentation
  • Educate clients on the claims process for all types of claims
  • Actively manage sensitive or complex claims for our large clients
  • Review claim status, action plan and reserves using your prior claims expertise to achieve a desirable outcome for all parties involved
  • Analyze claims data to determine loss trends and assist in loss prevention
  • Provide best practice recommendations to clients and insurance carriers on how to obtain superior claims outcomes
  • Attend and facilitate claim reviews, client meetings and vendor visits
  • Perform research and review of policies, legal statutes, case law, etc.
  • Assist the client in properly determining coverage
  • Complete on-boarding of new clients or changes to existing client insurance programs to ensure proper awareness of claims requirements and to create transparency with expectations
  • Deliver service levels to clients in accordance with agency standards
  • Participate in training and meetings in order to better assist external and internal clients; may require up to 20% travel
  • Increase industry and job knowledge as measured by attendance at continuing education, attaining or updating designations, and participation in other agency training offerings
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information
  • Perform other duties as assigned, appropriate to the position

Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Two or four year college degree is preferred
  • Minimum of five years’ work experience in a claims role, ie: adjuster, advocacy, subrogation, etc. is required
  • Prior experience with multi-lines commercial coverage is required
  • CPCU, AIC, or SCLA designations ideal
  • Commercial Property & Casualty license not required at time of hire, but must be obtained within first 90 days of employment

  • Demonstrate professionalism by treating internal and external clients professionally at all times
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; specifically Intermediate Excel and Word skills and basic PowerPoint skills
