GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: 

Under minimal supervision, the Aviation Maintenance Technology Recruitment and Retention Specialist develops, maintains, and executes strategies to engage and convert prospective students to enrolled students. This position provides general course, program, and administration information and guidance to entering students to ensure they have the resources necessary for transition to the Aviation Maintenance Technology program. The employee will work closely with Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, the academic department, and other student support services. The individual must possess strong skills in communication, networking, public speaking, data management, and teamwork.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain strategies to engage and convert prospective students to enrolled students including marketing to and presenting at special events, high schools, community organizations, etc. 
  • Coordinate major student recruitment events including hosting individuals and groups for campus visits. 
  • Build and maintain relationships both in person and utilizing technology with prospective and current students.
  • Provide one-on-one and/or group intake sessions for incoming students to provide information on program requirements, classes, paying for college, and developing a plan for the transition from their current situation to being an enrolled student. This includes collaboration with faculty and other departments across Kirkwood.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Kirkwood Regional Centers, high schools, and other community partners to disseminate program information. 
  • Assist students in navigating admissions and enrollment process. 
  • Assess student needs and provide referrals to college and community resources to support the educational goals of the student. 
  • Disseminate Kirkwood marketing material and publications in all outreach efforts. 
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work.  Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in working with students in a supportive role.
  • Strong Microsoft office and data management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
 
  • Two years of recent, related experience providing information to students on college admission, financial aid, and enrollment processes.
  • Two years of recent, related experience related to sales and marketing.
  • Experience in the aviation industry.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.
