Crest Services is looking for Direct Support Professional. This is an Entry level position, but this position is the most critical quality care.


  • Other duties may be assigned.
    Member Supervision and Support

  • Understand and follow the rights and responsibilities of the individual members and help each member exercise his/her own rights and responsibilities, including knowledge of the release of information and limitation of rights.

  • Assist individual members to understand and take their medications correctly and/or administer medications correctly.

  • Assist each member in fulfilling their desires by working towards his/her personal outcomes.

  • Enhance opportunities and foster independence for each member by instructing him/her in acquiring ne wskills.

  • Use real life situations (teachable moments) to help the members learn skills and become more independent.

  • Be consistently courteous and respectful with all members, use a positive approach and encourage membersto make informed choices.

  • Offer information to members so they are able to make informed decisions, understand and experience natural consequences, and be successful in the community, including budgeting their resources.

  • Assist the members with their personal care as needed,including assisting members with bathing,toileting,cooking, shopping, cleaning house, etc. Complete tasks for members as necessary to insure health and safety.

  • Communicate respect to the member by being a positive role model in the manner in which you act,dress and speak while with the members.

  • Member information must only be shared on a "need to know"basis.

  • Make reasonable decisions in keeping with the philosophy of enhancing opportunities, fulfilling desires and creating success.

  • Identify and encourage the expression of member opinions.

  • Use approved Behavior Support Plans to respond to members interfering behaviors,

  • Use natural supports when handling emergency interfering behavior situations such as 911, crisis teams, etc.


  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • Must be 21 years of age and prefer a high school diploma or general education degree. (GED).

  • Pass all Criminal and Abuse background checks.

  • Ability to work with limited supervision.

  • Become a self-managed team member.

  • Valid Drivers License and State minimum auto insurance

  • Reliable transportation

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports. All written documentation must be legible. Ability to speak effectively with members, their representatives, and employees of Crest Services.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to assess member safety, level of functioning and health and to identify and respond appropriately to crisis situations.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of behavioral programming instructions as well as contribute to the design and 419 CREST SERVICES Empowering People"modifications of members' programs. It is important that all Member Support Staff know their boundaries andthe 

  • impact their decisions have on the mission, values and reputation of Crest Services.


  • This person must meet the company's Motor Fleet Safety Policy in the State of Iowa unless exempted in writing by Crest Services

  • This person must be certified free of communicable diseases by a medical professional, and undergo a tuberculin test if required by regulation or by Crest Services. If required the physical and tuberculosis status must be completed at least every 4 years.

  • Upon request, must receive 

  • Medication Manager Certification.

  • This position falls under the ABHM Drug Free Workplace Policy.

  • This position requires tasks, which routinely involve a potential for the employee's mucous membranes, or skin, to contact: blood, body fluids, and tissues of another person or potential chemical (cleaning) spills or splashes..

  • Use of appropriate measures (Universal Precautions) is required for every health care provider in this position.
