Tanager Place is seeking a Program Manager for our Intermediate Care Facility/Intellectual Disabilities.
Position Summary:
To function as a member of the Inpatient Team, providing leadership and program-specific support and supervision of staff members.
Examples of Essential Functions:
  • Provides effective leadership and supervision within the Inpatient ICF/ID department to ensure optimal performance of the department and effective strategic planning to support agency goals;
  • Conducts timely performance reviews and monitors performance and staffing needs;
  • Provides assistance and direction when handling crisis situations and emergencies on campus;
  • Provides support, training and leadership to direct care staff, shift leads, and coordinators by collaborating, coaching, and remaining solution-focused;
  • Ensures regular supervision with all staff;
  • Ensures all documentation is completed in a timely manner meeting all regulatory standards (required same day/shift turnaround);
  • Provides, facilitates, and/or arranges training to maintain or improve staff skills;
  • Responsible for ensuring staff are client/consumer-focused at all times;
  • Role models excellent customer service for staff;
  • Provides situational and crisis intervention counseling per agency policy and assists staff with the physical management of clients when they pose a threat to self or others;
  • Ensures the training of staff is prioritized and completed as required;
  • Responsible for medication administration as assigned;
  • Maximizes strategic interventions to promote safety and consistency on campus, including the use of ICF/ID IPP guidelines;
  • Attends case review meetings, collaborative staff meetings with clinical staff and families;
  • Provides clear, superior direction and guidance regarding client care and treatment standards;
  • Interprets, understands and adheres to all licensure and regulatory guidelines;
  • Attends all mandatory and relevant manager level meetings;
  • Remains flexible and available to staff members in assuring appropriate coverage campus-wide;
  • Remains visible to staff and rotates through cottages at least one evening per week, serves as on call leadership;
  • Ensure cottage cleanliness and participate in procedures to keep the cottages clean, safe and well organized, which requires lifting cleaning supplies, climbing stairs, laundry, etc.;
  • Assist cottage staff in exploring alternative avenues for de-escalating client/consumer crisis situations in order to minimize the use of special treatment procedures;
  • Meet weekly and as necessary with the Director of Inpatient Services;
  • Complete work schedule and payroll reports for assigned positions;
  • Administers grievance procedures and policies;
  • Supports continuous process improvement initiatives;
  • Remains cognizant and respectful of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients/family;
  • Maintain professional boundaries with clients/consumers, families, and other agency employees;
  • Completes all necessary trainings as assigned including required continuous education, conference attendance, review of relevant materials, and completion of Relias trainings;
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with Tanager Place policies; procedures and safety practices;
  • Attends work regularly at the designated place and time;
  • Performs related work as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Effectively utilize the agency’s Electronic Health Record system;
  • Knowledge and use of the agency’s Resilience and Trauma-Informed Care model;
  • Ability to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology;
  • Ability to critically think through issues/problems and identify effective solutions/outcomes;
  • Ability to provide clear direction, establish performance goals, and provide feedback;
  • Ability to supervise, coordinate and evaluate the work of others;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Tanager Place employees, state and federal stakeholders, program participants, and the community;
  • Ability to work cooperatively and to maintain positive effective working relationships to accomplish job responsibilities;
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally;
  • Ingenuity, creativity, and inventiveness in the performance and completion of assigned tasks and responsibilities;
  • Ability to act as a positive emissary of Tanager Place in all meetings with public and other agency employees to promote a positive image of Tanager Place at all times.

Acceptable Experience/Training/ Education:
  • Considerable experience in a human service inpatient/residential setting;
  • Some leadership and supervisory experience;
    • Bachelor Degree preferred;
    • Qualified candidates must have significant professional experience with clients that have intellectual and mental health needs;
    • Qualified candidates must have knowledge and experience with administrative policies and procedures;
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
