Shift Leader - PAL Program

Job Information:

Four Oaks is seeking a Shift Leader for our facility in Iowa City.  As a Shift Leader in the PAL Program you will be responsible to coordinate the activities of their assigned shift; provide direct care services to clientele; provide operational leadership on assigned shift; assure behavior management; assure that documentation and logging is complete and accurate; provide skill groups for clientele.

In this position, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day care of the children including the use of Trauma Informed Care. This treatment method allows us to look beyond a child's behavior to the deeper trauma that caused it. This approach helps heal the child so she can truly move successfully into adulthood.

  • Desire to help kids succeed
  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license in good standing
  • Bachelors degree in Human Service related field preferred
  • 2 years prior experience working with children in a mental health setting preferred

About Pursuing Adventures in Learning (PAL) Program:
The PAL program provides special needs afterschool and summer care for Johnson County school-aged children (5-12) who have mental health diagnoses and behavioral disorders. Most of the children in PAL have been in other afterschool or summer programs and cannot return, have Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for behaviors, and many are served in their school’s behavior-focused classrooms.
