Human Resources Coordinator

TrueNorth Companies has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Coordinator to work with our Talent Experience Team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for providing administrative support related to company human resource practices and programs. The role will focus on assisting with benefits administration, wellness initiatives, and company culture and engagement efforts. This individual will also support the coordination and implementation of numerous Human Resources initiatives and programs.
Essential Job Responsibilities:   
  • Assist with corporate benefits administration by distributing benefit communication materials and required notices, completing carrier uploads and performing other supportive duties as assigned  
  • Coordinate and conduct meetings designed to help employees obtain information and understand company benefits and other related incentive programs, including new hire training  
  • Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork; medical, personal, disability and FMLA  
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, blood drives, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations  
  • Assist in the maintenance of Human Resources corporate communication channels, to include Intranet Announcements, HR information portal, email updates, facility communication screens   
Required Skills, Competencies & Education   
  • Minimum of Associates degree in HR or related field 
  • One - three years' experience in a professional work environment is required 
  • Previous work experience in Human Resources is preferred 
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification credential or ability to obtain within first year of employment and maintained annually 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and able to quickly learn and utilize other computer applications 
  • Self-motivated, organized-must be able to manage multiple projects and time independently 
  • Inquisitive nature 
  • Ability to respectfully and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, verbally and written 
  • Ability to think independently through problems and propose solutions
