Captive Health is a physician-led, multidisciplinary team that provides health risk management solutions to employers and captive insurance groups whose mission is to reduce risk, improve health and build value for its clients and their employees.  These services include health and wellness management, telemedicine access for acute care and mental health as well as evidence-based disease management support.

The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for the development, deployment and ongoing management of the Captive Health programming model. Supporting the President in the build of the Captive Health program, the COO will have significant responsibility in designing and scaling the Captive Health offerings and strategy in the market. The COO will be responsible for ongoing supervision and development of all support, wellness and risk management staff.

  • Job Duties
    • Develops strategic vision and goals for Captive Health and established policies and procedures that promote company culture and vision.
    • Oversees and is accountable for the daily operations of the company (IT, Marketing, Finance, etc.) and ensures organizational effectiveness to meet operational and financial health.
    • Supervises, develops, and retains employees.
    • Collaborates and maintains relationships with partners/vendors through open and effective communication.
    • Evaluates organizational performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
    • Writes and submits reports to the President in all matters of importance.
    • Participates in expansion activities (e.g., investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)
    • Assists the President in activities related to client relations.
  • Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, marketing, information technology, operations, etc.
    • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development (e.g. new business start-up is preferred)
    • Knowledge of health care environment
    • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operational metrics
    • Working knowledge of information technology/business infrastructure and MS Office
    • Outstanding organizational skills and leadership abilities in development, delegation, performance management and change management
    • Excellent interpersonal relations, collaboration and team-building skills
    • Aptitude in critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving
    • Superior written/verbal communication, presentation and public speaking skills
    • Ability to work in a complex reporting environment with high level skills in contract preparation and negotiation
  • Professional Experience
    • Five years of experience in administrative/operational role
    • Previous experience as Chief Operating Officer or similar role preferred
    • Healthcare experience strongly preferred
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field required
    • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field preferred
