The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Health Care Information Systems is seeking a Senior Application Developer to provide technical leadership for enhancing and supporting the Epic EpicCare Inpatient and Ambulatory applications. 

Core job duties include: 
•  Provide technical leadership, direction, and technical support for the development, configuration and ongoing maintenance of Epic applications. 
•  Collaborate with application owners and stakeholders to identify critical functional requirements for new or revised applications. 
•  Develop technical design and procedures for new or revised applications. 
•  Lead the review and analysis of system problems to identify solutions and/or make appropriate referrals. 
•  Develop and maintain detailed project plans associated with system development, deployment, and ongoing support. 
•  Wear a pager and providing some 24x7 on-call support.

Pay Grade:
Salary: $65,000 to commensurate – Paygrade 5B

Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related application development/support experience

Required Qualifications:
•    Experience in the development and/or support of applications used by non-technical customers to support and enhance business processes. Typically, 5-7 years for Senior Application Developers in a leadership role, including experience with programming tools and a comprehensive understanding of database technologies
•    Experience contributing to an integrated information system implementation cycle though areas such as design, workflow analysis, build, training, implementation, testing and support
•    Demonstrated experience working with end-users to define system requirements, understand business needs and convert business requirements into functional/technical specifications for complex integrated systems build
•    Demonstrated ability using programming knowledge and tools for customizing vendor application software
•    Experience working with vendors to analyze system and integration requirements.
•    Experience communicating technical information effectively to technical and non-technical staff at the verbal, written and presentation levels
•    Demonstrated job-related experience and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment

Desirable Qualifications: 
•    Experience supporting an EMR in an ambulatory or hospital setting
•    Experience with any of the fo llowing: ambulator y, inpatient or procedural workflows
•    Experience with any of the following mobile workflows: Epic Rover, Epic Haiku, or Epic Canto
•    Epic certification related but not limited to the following: EpicCare Ambulatory, EpicCare Inpatient, Hospital Outpatient Departments, or SmartForms
•    Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical staff on system imple mentation projects
•    Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with basic project management
•    Proven ability to write application test scripts
