Imaging Technologist – General & Interventional Radiology

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Radiology is seeking Imaging Technologists in General Radiology and Interventional Radiology (IR).
 
Radiology – General Duties Include:
•    Perform radiography procedures using a variety of imaging equipment.  Operate fixed and portable radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic imaging studies.
•    Provide instruction to trainees, students and other medical staff on operation and safety precautions.
•    Has knowledge and understanding of key Service Excellence principles for interactions with patients and staff. 
•    Establish rapport with patient and provide information about how the exam is performed and what is required of the patient.
•    Utilize standard safety precautions to minimize or eliminate risks to patients, personnel and equipment.

Radiology – IR Duties Include:
•    Perform IR procedures in interventional labs in Radiology and OR settings for routine and critical procedures. 
•    Assist in the use of complex medical equipment during interventional procedures, including, but not limited to angioplasty devices, stents, drains, and filters. 
•    Has knowledge and understanding of key Service Excellence principles for interaction with patients and staff.
•    Establish rapport with patient and provide information about how the exam is performed and what is required of the patient.
•    Use proper sterile techniques including skin preparation and IV placement; also, vital sign monitoring and recording and basic life support knowledge. 

Experience Requirements:
•    Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology •   •   •   •    Education is required.
•    Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Certification Requirements:
•    Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
•    Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.
