Health Services Administrator and Registered Nurse

The Health Services Administrator and Registered Nurse will provide physical health care and assessment, coordinate emergency health care for students, facilitate referrals and options for care off campus, and will partner in leadership of the college response to COVID-19. The Office of Health Services utilizes a holistic approach to health that focuses on health promotion, education, maintenance, and management, and will partner with the Assistant Dean for Health and Wellness to promote positive mental health and access to counseling services through the Office of Student Life.

Work Schedule:  Full-time August through May, Part-time June/July (half days as scheduled with supervisor)

Months of Service per Year: 11 months 


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide health assessment and care, coordinate emergency care, health assessment, and referrals to appropriate agencies on an as needed basis.
  • Promote client understanding and education of diagnosis and treatment of their medical condition.
  • In partnership with senior staff leadership, HR, Student Life, and the Health Coordinator, oversee the logistics and communication around the college response to the COVID-19 virus.
  • Maintain health records, physical exams and immunization records for all students enrolled at Coe College.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and physicians or parents while maintaining patients’ rights to confidentiality.
  • Promote wellness programs to engage students in healthier lifestyles.
  • Engage in outreach to community resources.
  • Provide leadership over and partnership with the Health Coordinator, who will be responsible for office administration and COVID-19 logistics and benchmarking.



  • RN license from the Iowa Board of Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • Certifications in first aid, CPR and AED.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of a background check in accordance with Coe College policy.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of students while collaborating with other college staff members in managing the physical and mental health of students.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • General office setting.
  • Ability to assess patients which may require occasional twist, bend, stoop.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 40 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to perform emergency procedures, including CPR.
