Overview

The IT Business Analyst, Senior will work with stakeholders, both IT and subject matter experts to understand UPH’s strategy, processes, information, and information technology solutions related to Community Connect.  The IT Business Analyst links the business mission, strategy, and processes to its IT strategy, and provides relevant documentation.

Responsibilities

IT Business Analyst

  • Responsible for the alignment of IT strategy and planning with UnityPoint’s business goals.
  • Responsible for the optimization of information management approaches through an understanding of evolving business needs and technology capabilities.
  • Maintains knowledge of projects that are being requested from IT and the business.
  • Actively addressing issues, taking ownership of projects, understanding priorities and urgency, anticipating and preventing issues, knowing when to escalate an issue and strong communication skills.
  • Responsible for modeling business and system processes based on findings through use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models.
  • Responsible for developing an in-depth knowledge of UnityPoint’s existing customer technologies and procedures, then making recommendations for improvements and / or alternatives.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of business requirements as well leading and facilitating cross-functional teams.
  • Manages the development of initiative plans and road maps.
  • Monitors initiatives and development efforts to ensure requests are met on time and keeping key stakeholders informed.
  • Collaborates with the customer and IT to ensure complete project scope is defined and agreed upon and assists with ensuring the transition plans are documented.
  • Participates in the specifications gathering for new customer efforts.
  • Prepares and maintains status updates and departmental dashboards via preferred tool sets.
  • Responsible for the creation and delivery of formal presentations
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.

Customer Service & Project Management

  • Meets with leadership on a routine basis to identify and prioritize the department and organization’s needs.
  • Contributes to work effort & timeline estimation of projects and assists team and Project Managers in setting and meeting user expectations. Creates statement of work documents outlining the solution and estimates to complete customer requests.
  • Leads small-medium projects requested by Community Connect customers and team.
  • Manages individual priorities and tasks to meet such timelines and actively contributes to project status reporting processes to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Provide effective and timely communications to customers and IT teams.
  • Maintains complete and up-to-date project documentation for all assigned projects and supplies updates to leaders, peers and business partners.
  • Assists in prepares clear and complete complex specifications, designs, test plans, and operations documentation.
  • Coordinate with customers and IT to develop/execute an Infrastructure Roadmap including: hardware replacement cycles, system software upgrade plans, and hardware maintenance windows and procedures.
  • Coordinates the preparation of departmental and interdepartmental policies and procedures, job functions, operating procedures, manuals, and system documentation.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Department Director to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the department.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, business administration or a related field required. Equivalent education and work experience will be accepted only if previous experience applies to specific area of responsibility.
  • Project Management or Business Analyst experience preferred.

 

Experience:

  • 5 years of IT experience.
  • Requires highly developed communications and negotiation skills to effectively work with all levels of management throughout UnityPoint Health, its subsidiaries and affiliates.
  • Requires a general knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Experienced using Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry systems and previous exposure/experience in Information Technology and project management preferred.
  • Experience performing project management of medium-large system IT projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of Epic application and workflows preferred.
