Overview

The Payroll Specialist, as a member of the AskHR team, contributes professional knowledge of payroll processes and requirements in order to assist employees, managers and other customers with payroll related questions. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service by meeting designated service levels and customer satisfaction. 

Responsibilities

Payroll Administration 

  • Serves as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for assigned affiliates within the AskHR-Payroll Team. 
  • Calculate adjustments for items such as wages, PTO balances and Alternate Rates.  
  • Performs W-4 and Direct Deposit Maintenance, coordinate other pay related entries into Lawson and Kronos for payroll processing for assigned affiliates.   
  • Processing of payroll through the time and attendance system, working with timekeepers and managers to ensure accuracy.   
  • Train Timekeepers and Employees on Kronos Timekeeping software as requested for designated affiliates to ensure payroll compliance and responsibilities. 
  • Provide excellent customer service to UnityPoint Health employees.  
  • Pull reports and analyze data to provide ongoing guidance to the designated affiliates as their Master Timekeeper. 
  • Maintain documents outlining the setup of each Kronos environment. 
  • Clearing and concisely communicate errors and adjustments through Case Management

Qualifications

Education:

  • Associates Degree in Human Resources or Business or 1 year of payroll experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of office environment experience or service center; with a minimum of 6 months in the area of HR and/or payroll processing.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • FPC Certification preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Customer Focused
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Multitasking abilities
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and software.
  • The ideal candidate will be well organized and confident to work independently but will be a strong team player.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills.
  • Requires communication skills to effectively work with all levels of employees throughout the UnityPoint Health, its subsidiaries and affiliates.
  • Infor-Lawson and Kronos preferred
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and local tax regulations preferred
