Overview

Defines, recommends, designs, tests, implements, and documents enterprise wide information security solutions and standards. Position provides leadership in information protection consulting, project management and the establishment of enterprise information security standards.  Accountable for the creation and maintenance of operational support documentation for the information protection hardware and software to be supported, monitored, and administered by the Information Protection Department or other trained personnel.   

Responsibilities

Security Solutions and Testing 

  • Defines, recommends, designs, tests, implements, and documents enterprise wide information security solutions and standards. 
  • Performs network, server, and application Penetration Testing as needed, required and/or assigned; concluding with well-written documentation on potential findings with associated risk ratings  
  • Evaluates departmental devices, hardware, system, software, and application purchase requests relating to the information security aspects to determine appropriate hardware and software specifications as needed, required and/or assigned. 
  • Evaluates and tests new developments in information protection technology to determine its benefits and applicability to our corporate protections and control infrastructure to improve our overall security posture. 
  • Performs documented risk assessments as nessary.  
  • Provides project status reports on a regular basis for assigned active projects. 
  • Responsible for network hardware and software recommendations to maintain optimal system performance, maintainability, and security. 

General Duties  

  • Participates in establishing and preparing departmental goals, standards, and procedures which contribute to the effectiveness of the department in accordance with organizational goals. 
  • Remain current on the latest security threats and protection trends and trains to ensure security skills stay current and applicable to a rapidly evolving and changing threat landscape. 
  • Provides input into preparation of project plans and monitors own task schedule. 
  • Works collaboratively with other IT group members to ensure optimal network functionality. 
  • Provides training and technical guidance to Information Protection staff 
  • Provides night and weekend on-call coverage as scheduled.  May assume additional on-call responsibilities as directed by Manager.   
  • Completes special projects and monthly reports as assigned. 
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the department. 

Service and Support 

  • Performs SAN, back-up and restore tasks as needed 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related degree.
  • Equivalent education and work experience will be accepted only if previous experience applies to specific systems.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry systems preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in information system security or IT technologies.
  • Broad understanding of information processing technology and an advanced or experiential knowledge of information protection technologies, concepts and security administration preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic computer forensic experience a plus
  • Advanced and current Information Security Certifications a strong plus
  • Certified (web/application/network) Penetration Tester strongly preferred
  • Ability to understand and deal effectively with problems and opportunities, which arise, in a complex multiprocessing environment is crucial.
  • Understands computer system functionality, limitations, and architecture of UPH supported applications.
  • Ability to work as a team member, creating and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.
