FT, Monday-Friday Daytime hours with call rotation

 

 

Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of respiratory patient care. Responsible for the delivery of respiratory patient care in cooperation with other health care team members, according to the patient care delivery model of each unit. The patients to be served include infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Responsibilities

Key Accountability

·       Set up and provide education/instruction on safe use of Respiratory equipment in accordance of written physician prescription and patient evaluation.

·        Responsible for set up documentation and patient follow up as necessary.

·       Ensures quality and safe delivery of services to patients according to plan of care. Uses equipment and supplies safely, effectively, and efficiently.

·       Consistently utilizes a patient-centered approach considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety

·       Develops a field of expertise by maintaining a working knowledge of third party coverage.

·       Maintains accurate and timely documentation of clinical records.

·       Assist in troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of respiratory equipment.

·       Responsible for selecting the most appropriate and cost-effective equipment and supplies from available product options approved by management.

·       Conducts clinical review of record to include multi-disciplinary review, coordination of care provided in conjunction with visits and documentation.

·       Identifies risk for acute hospitalization and proactively prevents adverse events.

·       Assists in the promotion of services and products.

·       Employee is responsible for completion of communication tasks and activities in a timely manner. This would include, but is not limited to: responding to email, voicemail or telephone messages, promptly, accurately, and professionally: attending staff meetings as scheduled or viewing videotapes of those meetings; asking questions of team members and supervisors when needing clarification about various day-to-day issues or patient needs; and reviewing employee communication pieces, to stay aware of UnityPoint at Home programs and initiatives.

·       Maintains compliance with Personnel policies and procedures

·        Perform other duties as requested by management to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the organization

·       Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.

·       Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.

·       Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.

·       Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.  Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.  Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Preferred or Specialized

Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Education:

 

 

 

  • Graduate of a State Board approved program for Respiratory Therapy and valid license as a Respiratory Therapist. 

 

Experience:

 

 

 

 

 

·       Strong verbal and written communication skills.

·       Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, decision making and problem solving expertise.

·       Knowledge of professional respiratory therapy principles and practices.

·       Ability to work as a collaborative team member.

·       Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.

 

  • One year critical care respiratory therapy experience.

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

 

 

 

 

  • Credentialed as a CRT/RRT.

·       Mandatory Reporter: Child & Dependent Adult Abuse.

·       CPR Certification.

·       Valid licensed driver with automobile insurance in accordance with state and/or organizational requirements. 

 

 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

 

 

 

·       Knowledge of professional respiratory therapy principles and practices.

 

 

Other:

 

 

 

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
