Support professionals across the division in the collection and submission of comprehensive and accurate data to internal and external sources. This is accomplished through high quality data compilation, documentation and entry into various databases, excel sheets and dashboards. Works closely with professionals across the division to assure required deadlines are met.

Data Abstraction

·        Reads and understands research protocols to assure effective and efficient data entry.

·        Tracks, organizes and prioritizes data for entry into clinical research data capture systems and other data entry system across the division.

·        Tracks down information through various sources such as EHR at hospitals and private medical offices and direct patient contact.

·        Enters data in accordance with the research study/trial procedures, protocols, compliance, regulatory guidelines and abstracting rules.

·        Works on multiple research studies simultaneously to coordinate and meet data deadlines.

·        Troubleshoots data entry issues related to the clinical research data capture systems.

Department Support

·        Assists with procurement and preparation of clinical research supplies and materials.

·        Uses technical/clinical knowledge of the position and the work unit to help maximize personal and departmental effectiveness.

·        Provides the highest level of care and/or service to customers, including patients, providers and all for whom we provide service. Customer interaction takes into account the age and relevant physical and psychosocial needs of the customer.

·        Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.

·        Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.

·        Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.

·        Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
