The Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science (PPS) at the University of Iowa’s College of Pharmacy is looking for a motivated Quality Improvement Administrator to join an innovative telehealth team studying healthcare services delivery, particularly in the field of medication management in adults living with multiple chronic conditions. This 100% time position will assist with the development of new programs and protocols that lead to improved patient care for a telehealth program. This position is a one-year Specified Term position.

Duties include:

  • Responsible for facilitating and implementing quality and operational improvement initiatives for a telehealth program.
  • Develop methods for data collection; collect and retrieve data; design and access databases for decision making.
  • Lead operational improvement teams, utilizing performance improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Perform cost analysis for new patient services to ensure they meet the institution’s strategic plan.
  • Provide advice, facilitation, and training on the development, administration, and technical aspects of quality improvement efforts for new services at all levels of the Central Health Services program and research team.
  • Provide direction, assignments, feedback, coaching and counseling to assure outcomes are achieved.

Qualifications

Education Requirement

  • Master’s Degree in a healthcare related field or equivalent education and experience in healthcare outcomes and performance improvement initiatives/techniques or related experience (which may include clinical care).

Experience Required

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in quality improvement, including consultation or experience in process or rapid cycle improvement, systems thinking concepts, team facilitation, performance measurements and/or stratification of data.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and various databases.
  • Experience managing complex information with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to take action on quality issues while challenging existing systems.
  • A valid driver’s license, plus the ability to meet and maintain compliance with the University Driving Policy.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Expertise in quality improvement concepts, such as Six Sigma Green or Black-belt.
  • Content expertise in a pharmacy-related field.
