Nurse Practitioner - Instructional Track Faculty Position

The University of Iowa (UI) College of Nursing is seeking qualified Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners certified as an Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) applicants for a Instructional Track (Non-Tenure) fiscal (12-month) faculty position.

Teaching responsibilities may consist of teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, supervising students or other course related activities during the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and during the summer semester. Teaching assignments are made by the Executive Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in collaboration with the Director of Faculty Practice.  

In the practice role, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide the community with exceptional nursing-based health care and provide College of Nursing students with clinical opportunities. The NP will function as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. Practice duties will include: providing direct patient care in the form of assessment, diagnosis, and plan of care for clients; documentation and billing of above; scheduling own patient case load; teaching and consultation (formal and/or informal) with families, staff, and patients. Travel is required to the healthcare sites. Clinical practice focus is on geriatric population.

Requirements include:
  • Earned doctorate in nursing (PhD or Doctorate of Nursing Practice) or MSN as a nurse practitioner from an accredited school of nursing
  • National certification as an Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
  • Licensed Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner and eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, patient and families
