Provide medical care and management for patients, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided for the Internal Medicine Inpatient & Short Stay Units. Function independently to plan, deliver, and evaluate health care for the Internal Medicine inpatient and observation populations. Facilitate the transition of care from the ED to inpatient/observation services. Focus on the caring for hospitalized patients to manage care and length of stay, improve resource utilization and decrease costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care. The position requires staffing nights and weekends (>50%). New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Salary $100,000- Commensurate

Physician Assistant (PA): Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA.

Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP): A Master’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred. If a Master’s degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.

ARNP - Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in the state of Iowa is required.

ARNP - Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa is required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in the area of Internal Medicine clinical practice is required or previous experience in a specified hospital specialty area or demonstrated knowledge of area of clinical practice.

Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with diverse faculty, staff, and students is required.

Experience providing overall medical care and provide medical management for patients in a General Internal Medicine inpatient setting is highly desirable.

Experience exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided is highly desirable.

Experience managing length of stay, improve resource utilization and decrease costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care is highly desirable.

Experience with the evaluation and treatment of General Internal Medicine patients and the supervision of General Internal Medicine procedures are desired.
