Provide and/or direct medical/care to patients for the University of Iowa Obesity and Weight Management clinical program at Iowa River Landing.and may supervise care provided by others; educate, counsel and promote health to patients, the student population and health science students; assist with medical research to further patient care. Inclusion in this job family requires professional license. This growing outpatient practice incorporates a multidisciplinary approach to patient care involving physicians and nutritionists. The successful candidate will be expected to manage a panel of patients independently as well as working with the multidisciplinary team in a shared care model.

Minimum salary $100,000- commensurate

Physician Assistant (PA): Must comply with registration and license requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA.

Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP):
  • A Master’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred. 
  • If a Master’s degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
  • ARNP - Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.
  • Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa is required.
  • Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in area of practice is required or previous experience in specified hospital specialty area or demonstrated knowledge of area of clinical practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with diverse faculty, staff and students is required.
  • Completion of Obesity Medicine Association sponsored fellowship is highly desired.
  • Previous experience establishing and developing a clinical weight management practice is highly desired.
  • Experience in area of diabetes is highly desirable.
