Full time position, benefits eligible. Masters Degree required, along with relevant clinical and at least 5 years work experience in a related field.

This position supports Mercy’s philosophy of patient centered care by handling the day to day operations of the Family Caregivers Center. This includes maintaining program components, ensuring that volunteers, family caregivers and care receivers feel welcome, respected and valued and soliciting feedback to make the center the best it can be. The Center Manager must have a nurturing, intuitive, flexible, observant and trustworthy demeanor.

 Job Specific Duties/Essential Functions:
  • Ensures that volunteers are recruited, hired, matched, supervised and nurtured.
  • Ensures that current program components are monitored.
  • Gives presentations about caregiving and the Family Caregivers Center.
  • Offers and monitors educational sessions.
  • Responsible for publishing a monthly newsletter.
  • Ensures that a process remains in place for volunteers to conduct one-on-one interviews with caregivers.
  • Maintains database
  • Assists Director and Volunteers in organizing and preparing forms and training materials and archiving documents as needed.
  • Maintains form book and tracks visitors and event registrations (via phone and on-line).
  • Purchases materials and supplies and prepares expense reimbursement forms
  • Assists in maintaining a balanced Family Caregivers Center budget
  • Develops and maintains equipment inventory, annual calendar of events and prepares to meet deadlines.
  • Occasionally watches care receivers while caregivers are at the Center.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience as a spousal family caregiver
  • Ability to do organizational development
  • Ability to present publicly
  • Successful experience in leading/managing people and groups
  • Ability to assess situations or problems and develop and implement an action plan
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds and gain their trust
  • Ability to work in partnership internally with Mercy Medical Center personnel and externally with the community
  • Computer literate
  • Must have empathy, tact and patience
  • Resilience in coping with challenging situations
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Understanding and utilization of systems theory in decision making
  • Knowledge of dementia

Professional Experience– Required vs. Preferred:
  • Clinical background in a medically related field required
  • 5 years of documented, successful related experience required

Education-Required vs. Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in social work or related field focused on the ongoing creation, implementation and leadership of a program that provides services to caregivers of adults living with chronic conditions.

Licensure, Certification, Registration - Required vs. Preferred:
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and have access to an insured vehicle
  • Have completed or willing to complete elder and child abuse mandatory reporter training.
