Staff Nurse - Radiology

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Assess patients'nursing care needs, evaluate effectiveness of care provided,and integrate nursing theory and research into clinical practice.Provide leadership to members of the nursing team in order to maintainpatient care standards.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Nurse positions will vary between 80 – 100% percent effort within the Department of Radiology.  Typical hours are day/evening (mostly days) combination of 8 & 12 hour shifts, Monday – Friday with weekend, night and holiday call rotation. (Salaries for 80% positions start at $42,160 to commensurate and salaries for 100% positions start at $52,701 to commensurate).
  • Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness. 
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations. 
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings. 
  • Assist in Interventional Radiology related to procedural sedation including administering medication, patient monitoring and recovery.
  • Assist in all other areas within Radiology as needed.   
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response. 
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan. 
  • Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care. 
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Supervision is received from a Nurse Manager, ClinicalDirector or other designated official.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
No functional supervision exists.

QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements:
  • An Associate's degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, or Master's degree in Nursing (MNHP or MSN).
Experience Requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstration of strong organizational skills and time management.
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of recent RN experience. 
Certification Requirements:
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa
  • BLS Certification

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Nursing experience in Interventional Radiology, Critical Care, or Emergency Treatment Care.
  • Experience with EKG interpretation and IV placement.
  • Experience with procedural sedation.
  • Experience with post procedural sedation.
  • PALS Certification.
  • ACLS Certification or ability to obtain ACLS within six months of hire.
