The Joint Office for Compliance at  University of Iowa Health Care is currently accepting applications for a Senior Compliance Coordinator in our Training Services Area. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified individual to become part of our team.

The Senior Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of program objectives related to educational programs.  The successful candidate will design, plan, promote, and provide education and training for both facility and physician coding and billing, along with UIHC providers and ensure appropriate administration of processes for accuracy and compliance.

  • Initiate, develop, implement and conduct educational activities related to coding, documentation, and regulatory guidelines to ensure appropriate and timely education for compliant coding and billing
  • Serves as a resource to JOC auditors, hospital and professional coders, physicians/providers, and other staff.
  • Develops formal educational programs and presentations to physicians/providers, administration, coders, and other staff based on, but not limited to, auditing results, compliance issues, and regulatory and guideline changes.
  • Act as a liaison with agencies and organizations such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), coding professions such as the AHIMA and AAPC, and other organizations to resolve conflicting interpretation of guidelines and assist with coding certifications.   
  • Works with staff in the following areas:  health information management staff, centralized coding, departmental coding, patient financial services, finance and accounting, internal audit, information systems, health care providers and others to solve and implement solutions to maintain compliance.
  • Serves as a liaison for the Joint Office for Compliance to clinical departments participating in educational sessions, maintaining professional relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.   
  • Serves as a resource for department managers, coding staff, physicians and administration on coding and documentation standards, guidelines and regulatory requirements.
