Job Information:

Pharmacy Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday: 8:30 am-6 pm; Saturday: 8:30 am-12 pm; Sunday: Closed

Work Schedule: 35-40 hours per week scheduled from either 8:30 am-5 pm or 10 am-6:30 pm Monday-Friday. No regularly scheduled weekend shifts, just to cover vacations occasionally.

Desirable qualifications:
Solon Towncrest Pharmacy; a progressive independent community pharmacy in Solon, IA; is seeking a highly motivated pharmacy technician to join our team.  Must be friendly and willing to give 100% effort every day working cooperatively as part of a team. Must be able to multi-task and use critical thinking skills to handle situations and resolve conflict. Must be able to interact with patients in a prompt, caring, calm manner and always be willing to go the extra mile for patients. Experience working in a community pharmacy setting desired but not necessary if other qualifications and character traits present (will be trained on dispensing software, insurance rejections, etc.). Must have an attention for detail and accuracy in processing orders. Must be able to accept feedback and have a desire to continue learning, growing, and creating constructive change in the pharmacy. Must be comfortable communicating over the phone and in person. Experience with medication synchronization programs and medication packaging desirable.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current certification as a pharmacy technician is preferred  but not necessary.  Certification needs to be attained within 6 months of hire date.
  • Must be able to use math to solve a problem such as calculating day’s supply on a prescription 
  • Must have completed a high school or equivalent education 
  • Must handle all aspects of the job in an ethical and courteous manner and must follow HIPAA rules regarding patient privacy and confidentiality

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to stand on feet for duration of shift and move throughout the pharmacy easily
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds Ability to see/use computers and point-of-sale registers

Under supervision of the pharmacist, the technician will run the dispensing aspect of the community pharmacy. Duties include:
  • Prescription entry and filling
  • Prescription filing and organization
  • Inventory ordering and management
  • Friendly customer service face-to-face and via telephone
  • In-town deliveries (Solon), communication with prescribers and insurance as needed, 
  • And special projects as assigned.
