Public Health Director

Board of Health seeks Director to manage staff of 45 and budget of over $4 million. Institute essential public health services, provide leadership and vision for meeting community health needs, implement policies of the Board, coordinate communication services and oversee all aspects of public health in Johnson County.

Compensation range $103,613.64 to $121,898.66, commensurate with experience, excellent health insurance and benefits.

Iowa City serves as the county seat and it home to the University of Iowa with 32,000 students and accredited College of Public Health. The community offers unique cultural, recreational, and sports activities, exceptional education, and a superior healthcare system.

Excellent skills in administration, employee relations, budgeting, and oral/written communication are required. Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in public health, health administration, or other applicable field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in public health OR a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in public health, health administration, or other applicable field, and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in public health. Master’s Degree or higher preferred. Within six (6) months, must reside in Johnson County.
