Medical Coder

OB/GYN Associates, P.C. is currently recruiting a Medical Coder.  This position will review medical records to assign correct billing code(s) and to determine if billing complies with documentation requirements. 

Duties:

• Reviews medical record documentation and assigns appropriate diagnosis code, CPT code, and appropriate modifiers. 
• Review and assess medical record documentation to support codes and/or identify missed professional and facility billing opportunities. 
• Work in cooperation with medical staff on accurate coding, trends and coding updates. 
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned. 

Requirements:

• A successful candidate will have experience working in a medical office and familiarity with medical terminology.
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of a medical practice.  
• Preferred candidate should have efficient computer skills including familiarity with electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office. 
• Nationally recognized coding credential (CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA or RHIT) is highly desirable.
