Job Title: Order Verification Specialist

Location: Coralville, IA

Shift: Mid-Day (Monday-Friday 12:00pm - 9:00pm)

Purpose statement:

The Order Verification Specialist provides an additional in-process verification step for customer orders post manufacturing. 

Job Specific Essential Functions:

  • Visually inspects and reviews products prior to shipment to ensure it meets customer specifications

  • Verifies GMP orders by confirming information from multiple sources, ensuring 100% compliance via an oligo master record with final signoff upon order verification

  • Troubleshoots any order issues identified during post synthesis review that may prevent shipment

  • Makes independent decisions regarding a product’s path based on individual attributes of the product and customer requirements

  • Reviews and documents procedures used for each product in custom software or by other controlled methods.

  • Identifies effectively, the need for documentation/process changes, process deviations, product non-conformances and other occurrences that can indicate the ineffectiveness of quality and/or manufacturing systems

  • Likely to act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience

  • Creates work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOP) that meet customer requirements

  • Adheres to customer specifics (in a strict manner) as well as general work instructions and SOP’s

  • Troubleshoots and corrects inconsistencies and problems that may occur during daily operations

  • Collaborates with members of team, as well as management, to ensure open communication and teamwork

  • Uses and maintains equipment used in the department tasks and processes

  • Participates in the validation of processes performed in the group as needed

  • Investigates customer complaints and obtains data for customer inquiries when necessary

  • Participates in customer and regulatory audits, as needed

  • Adheres to all departmental protocols, rules, and safety regulations and understands the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and ISO 14001

  • Fields and answers general order questions from other IDT personnel

  • Records Internal Process Review (IPR) entries for issues identified during post manufacturing verifications

  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position Specific Duties/Essential Functions:

  • Performs final manufacturing reviews

  • Completes GMP sign off when required

  • Identifies and investigates inconsistencies and suggests possible improvements and solutions

  • Works within the ERP system when needed

  • Assists in defining processes for new and existing products


  • Associate’s degree or one year of IDT experience in a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.


  • Ability to fluctuate priorities throughout the workday required.

  • Ability to make decisions based on information not found in SOP’s required.

Professional Experience:

  • Previous customer service or administrative experience preferred.

  • Excellent computer skills that include Microsoft Office applications and proficiency in typing required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently

Visual Acuity:

  • Work requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to read pertinent printed material and distinguish colors.

  • Ability to accurately read measurements on equipment.

  • Ability to prepare and read written documentation; use of computer.
