Product Configuration Modeler

Location: Coralville, Iowa - Mobile (On-Site/Work from Home Hybrid)*

*Mobile associates must live in an area that does not exceed a 100-mile (150 km) radius of IDT location.

Purpose statement:

The Product Configuration Modeler uses variant configuration specialized knowledge and skills to work in conjunction with the ERP functional work streams and business. This role researches, develops and deploys advances in business solutions across multiple functional departments. This position defines solutions, contents and guides the development of functional organization solutions for each work stream including methodologies, standards and processes. Lastly this role is responsible for process and solution work related to configuring, deploying, maintaining and upgrading a world class ERP capability utilizing SAP.

Essential Functions:

  • Configures and codes complex configurable materials with full cross functional integration.

  • Supports cross-team collaboration to ensure the area of focus integrates with the overall solution while providing business stake holders with standard SAP solution alternatives to business processes.

  • Creates and maintains SAP material master (MM) data.

  • Creates table and constraints for different combinations and restrictions of the product as per the customer requirements (internal and external).

  • Creates SAP Product variant configurations in collaboration with the product management and the development.

  • Supports internal Product Lifecycle.

  • Plans product configuration changes to ensure the product releases are accurate and on-time and monitors the release of a configured product from concept to completion.

  • Maintains VC objects, BOMs, and Routings in SAP.

  • Participates in all phases of the variant configuration build from designing, building, testing and release.

  • Provides immediate support to production issues related to the configured product structure during the product life cycle to ensure continuity of business.

  • Facilitates decisions and makes recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on overall ERP activities.

  • Reviews and seeks understanding of operational business procedures and methods specific to functional business areas by mapping current business processes, defining and analyzing business activities, proposing best practices, and recommending solutions.

  • Maintains current and up-to-date knowledge of developments in a specific discipline and/or other related technical fields in order to recommend innovations to improve the quality and effectiveness of the business solution.

Education, Licensure, Certification, Registration

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Professional Experience:

  • Prior knowledge/experience with SAP preferred.

  • Experience SAPscript, SAP Materials Management (SAP MM), SAP ABAP, SAP Sales and Distribution (SAP SD), S4 HANA preferred.

  • Knowledge and/or experience with Master Data in SAP preferred.

  • Variant Configuration knowledge preferred.

  • Prior experience with manufacturing product releases and BOM management preferred.

  • Powerapp Developer knowledge preferred.

Other Job Qualifications

  • Proficient in Variant Configuration under MTO/MTS environments.

  • Working knowledge of integration points between various business processes or modules including product costing, material management, procurement, labels, and pricing.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and maintain relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use transaction codes

  • Ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergent, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations, or situation in which working speed and sustained attention are make-or-break aspects of the job.

  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.

  • Repetitive Motion: substantial movements (motion) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

  • Reaching: extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

  • Standing: maintaining an upright position.

  • Walking: moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.

  • Lifting: raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.

  • Using Fingers/Grasping/Feeling: writing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers or palm and perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touch.

  • Bending: bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist and/or bending leg; bending legs at knee to come to rest or kneel.

  • Pushing/Pulling: using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward/using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

  • Climbing: stairs, stools, ramps, ladders.

Visual Acuity:

  • Work requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to read pertinent printed material and distinguish colors.

  • Ability to accurately read measurements on equipment.

  • Ability to prepare and read written documentation; use of computer.
