United Way of East Central Iowa is seeking a highly skilled development professional to join our team as the Sr. Manager, Donor Engagement & Workplace Campaign.

As the Sr. Manager, Donor Engagement & Workplace Campaign, you will be responsible to contribute to the achievement of UWECI’s mission and vision by maximizing revenue through leading the development, implementation, and management of targeted strategies to grow the annual, multi-million-dollar campaign and year-round initiatives to increase overall contributions.

In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring the success of the workplace giving campaign and year-round giving, developing and executing programs designed to augment UWECI’s fundraising and relationship management strategies, and analyzing data. Includes, but is not limited to, workplace giving campaign, new business solicitations, developing year-round giving programs, donor recognition, managing grants, sponsorships, and other strategies designed to build giving relationships with new and existing donors. In this role, you will report to the Vice President, Donor Engagement & Development.

PRIMARY PURPOSE 

The Sr. Manager, Donor Engagement & Workplace Campaign contributes to the achievement of UWECI’s mission and vision by maximizing revenue through leading the development, implementation, and management of targeted strategies to grow the annual, multi-million-dollar campaign and year-round initiatives to increase overall contributions. This position is responsible for ensuring the success of the workplace giving campaign and year-round giving, developing and executing programs designed to augment UWECI’s fundraising and relationship management strategies, and analyzing data. Includes, but is not limited to, workplace giving campaign, new business solicitations, developing year-round giving programs, donor recognition, managing grants, sponsorships, and other strategies designed to build giving relationships with new and existing donors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Strategic Leadership:

  • Lead the Donor Engagement staff, including staff development, evaluation of performance, engagement in strategic planning and portfolio management and review.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and lead a team of Loaned Executives (average 4-6) during active workplace campaign season (typically August-November) to achieve assigned campaign growth, donor retention and participation and revenue goals.
  • Lead and manage, in collaboration with UWECI Leadership team, annual account plans and action steps needed to engage key accounts on a year-round basis to secure additional support for UWECI.
  • Work collaboratively within the organization to build and integrate strategies and growth capacity. Contribute to complementary activities (Day of Caring, volunteer engagement, etc.).
  • Recruit, organize, and lead Campaign Cabinet.
  • Provide support and direction to Campaign Chairs and Campaign Cabinet volunteers to build capacity and drive revenue, impact, outcomes, and influence.

Workplace Giving/Annual Campaign:

  • Design, coordinate, and implement comprehensive campaign strategies resulting in growth, retention, and engagement.
  • Manage individual campaign accounts.
  • Determine key metrics, accountability, and reporting that align with workplace giving performance and growth objectives.
  • Develop market segment strategies.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications, Community Impact and Finance & Administrative teams on the development of campaign materials.
  • Research, write, and support grant applications as appropriate.
  • Track and evaluate effectiveness of strategies, campaigns, and overall results.
  • Monitor performance of campaigns, providing progress reports and projections as needed.
  • Lead portfolio and company campaign performance evaluation to identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities to improve engagement strategies and performance.
  • Develop individual relationships with corporate and community leaders.
  • This is to account for approximately 80% of work time.

Leadership Giving/Individual Portfolio Work:

  • Research, identify, analyze, and communicate key donor trends, results, and opportunities to ensure continued growth in donors and revenue.
  • Develop donor stewardship through engagement in personal visits, events, volunteerism, and recognition of contributions.
  • Attend Leadership Giving Society and affinity group meetings.
  • Manage all aspects of a donor portfolio including prospecting, communications, cultivation, retention, moves management, and stewardship.
  • Identify prospective leadership donors inside and outside workplace settings.
  • Promote leadership giving and advance donors to higher levels.
  • Support the activities of the Tocqueville Society, Sinclair Society, and affinity groups.
  • Conduct research and analyze and manage data and demographic information relevant to this donor segment.
  • This is to account for approximately 20% of work time.

Education:

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years experience

Education Requirement:

  • 5+ years of related experience will be accepted in place of required degree

Preferred field(s) of study: Non-Profit, Fundraising, Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Communications, or related field.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Travel to offsite meetings is an essential part of this role; a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.

ACCOUNTABILITY & DECISION MAKING

This position must coordinate and communicate regularly with VP, Donor Engagement & Development and the President/CEO regarding vision, strategy, and progress for workplace giving campaigns.

Decisions must align with guidelines and/or policies of the Donor Engagement department and United Way of East Central Iowa.
