PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Financial Stewardship Coordinator will be responsible for running a capital appeal project for
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, working with St. Mark’s Foundation in their legacy appeals, and strengthening the overall financial stewardship of the church. This position is estimated to be a two-year commitment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following are fundamental duties that an individual who holds the position must perform. This is not an exhaustive list. Other duties, in addition to these essential job functions, will be assigned at the discretion of and in conjunction with the Executive Director.

 

  Develop and implement a strategic plan for a capital appeal project; goal is to
raise $4 million over three to five years.

  Cultivate and develop relationships with large donors. 

  Recruit, train, and equip a team of lay leaders in the congregation to serve in
a capital appeal. 

  Create a more frequent donor acknowledgement system. 

  Determine what it means to be a “joyful giver” and living generously as a part of
discipleship. 

  Work with the St. Mark’s Foundation on long-term and/or estate giving.

  Work with Finance Manager to maintain giving database.  

  Effectively and efficiently with staff and congregation, particularly with Senior
Pastor and Executive Director.

  Work independently on an assigned task or project and see it to completion.

  Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  Embraces St. Mark’s theological understanding and core values.

  Possess aptitude in the areas of verbal and written communication; planning,
organizing and coordinating; time management and managing multiple tasks.

  Proficiency in the use of a variety of computer software applications (i.e. Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs).

  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, and statistical
inference. 

  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid

conclusions. 

  Exhibit goal-setting ability, initiative, attention to detail, and desire for
excellence.

  Must be team-oriented.

  Willing to work independently, be flexible, and patient in a fast-paced team
environment.

  Excellent time management, able to balance many projects at once.

  Ability to use discretion in issues of confidentiality.

  Ability to prioritize work and meet project deadlines.

  Adhere to financial guidelines and approved budget.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  Minimum Bachelor’s Degree and one-three years of experience and knowledge
with non-profit fundraising.
