Institutional Relations Manager

Position Summary:
The Institutional Relations Manager is responsible for the development, management, implementation and evaluation of a regional institutional fundraising program to support the organization’s mission and vision. This staff position is charged with building and fostering a culture of deepened corporate, foundation and public sector involvement for Orchestra Iowa, the Orchestra Iowa School and the Opus Concert Café.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Annual Fundraising
 Implement strategies to maximize corporate, foundation and public sector philanthropic support through a variety of methods including personal solicitation, sponsorship requests and grant proposals.
 Manage relationships with corporate and foundation contacts to create and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships and funding opportunities.
 Research, identify and evaluate potential corporate supporters to grow overall base of contributors.
 Oversee accurate and timely correspondence, including solicitations, acknowledgements, pledge reminders and reports.
 Participate in fundraising and event committees and/or task forces.
 Represent Orchestra Iowa at performances, events and in the community.
 Maintain an annual sponsor benefits program that engages corporate sponsors, their leadership and employees.
Grant Writing
 Manage a current grant calendar of approximately 30 grants, including researching appropriate funding opportunities, writing application narratives, assembling required attachments and working with coworkers to gather relevant information.
 Research, evaluate and apply for new grants.
 Ensure grant and institutional gift compliance by submitting required reports and acknowledgements adhering to IRS regulations and best practices.
Special Events
 Assist Director of Individual Giving & Events and CEO in identifying and securing (co-) chairs and committee members for special events and fundraisers.
 Work with event chairs to secure underwriting for fundraising events.
 Assist with coordinating logistics, promotion, sponsor recognition and execution of fundraising events.
 Develop sponsor appreciation events and stewardship opportunities for corporate supporters and their employees.
Administrative
 Assist the CEO, CFO and Board in establishing appropriate fundraising and event goals; prepare regular gift reports and projections.
 Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of all institutional donor files and records, including filing of constituent records and correspondences.
 Maintain a master calendar consisting of grant deadlines, corporate events and sponsorship mailings.
 Secure corporate underwriting for the Overture Program Books.
 Write and edit website and social media features highlighting institutional donors; provide accurate donor listings for website and program book.
 Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
 Bachelors degree and a minimum of two years of non-profit experience
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills
 Extreme attention to detail
 Diplomacy in handling sensitive and confidential information
 Ability to manage multiple projects and succeed within fast-paced work environment
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Tessitura (or other patron relationship database)
 Passion for the arts a must
