Director, Donor Development

This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by developing support through annual and major gifts from donors for the mission of Mercy. This position has specific responsibility for donor appreciation events, publications and other promotional activities.


Job Specific Duties/Essential Functions

•Meets with donors to discuss annual and major gifts.
•Oversees and helps develop donor events.
•Prepares promotional materials to support development programs.
•Works with specific departments to build individual giving programs.
•Oversees the development and implementation of the Grateful Patient Program.
•Works both independently without close oversight, but also a team player, taking initiative, and managing multiple tasks and projects.
•Works directly with the Director, physicians, staff, patients and family members connected with the HPCC.
•Coordinates annual fundraising goals with The President of the Foundation.
•Identifies and researches potential sources of gift support. Contacts potential donors with direct appeals for gift opportunities.
•Develops planned and annual solicitation activities to include year-end appeal.

•Excellent written and verbal skills
•Advanced interpersonal communication skills, especially with older adults
•Organizational skills
•Understanding and appreciation for the mission of Mercy Medical Center and the
•Mercy Medical Center Foundation.
•Exceptional listening skills.
•Microsoft Office skills and experience with Raisers' Edge

Professional Experience– Required vs. Preferred
•Minimum of three years of formal fundraising experience required

Education-Required vs. Preferred
•Bachelor's Degree required
•Master's Degree preferred
