About this position:

Do you take pride in maintaining quality and accuracy in your work?  Do you enjoy research?  GreatAmerica is seeking a Sales Tax Specialist to help ensure GreatAmerica is in compliance with the sales tax process cycle.  As a Sales Tax Specialist you will be responsible for researching state and local tax laws to ensure compliance.  You will also manage state sales/use tax returns and remittance.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Administration of basic state and local sales/use tax returns without assistance and complex returns with assistance.
  • Accurately prepare support documents for return filing using internal applications with assistance.
  • Complete basic local sales tax registrations without assistance, complex local registrations with assistance.
  • Answer basic sales tax questions for various business units with limited assistance.
  • Administer recurring sales tax quality control procedures, including but not limited to report generation and correction.
  • Identify exempt customers and reapply payments as needed with assistance.
  • Grasp and identify sales tax coding errors and aids in resolution.
  • Understand and complete basic account reconciliations with minimal assistance.
  • Provide outstanding GreatAmerica Experience for external as well as internal customers.


Education, experience and skills required:

  • Four year accounting or finance degree or equivalent accounting/financial record keeping related experience required. 
  • Our ideal candidate will have experience with Microsoft Office primarily Word and Excel; general experience with sales tax software is preferred. 
  • We are looking for a team player, a self-starter and someone with strong communication skills.
  • General experience with sales tax software preferred but not required.
