This professional-level position is responsible for the development, implementation and review of financial management policies and procedures for all elected officials and department heads, or acts as a project coordinator for software implementation projects and works with the Information Technology department on ongoing financial and property tax system maintenance. Provides training or assistance as necessary to assure compliance with GAAP and makes recommendations to elected officials and department heads.

Establishes policies and procedures to encourage and facilitate the reporting of fraud or abuse and develops workflow procedures for financial system business processes. Prepares highly complex and diversified financial reports requiring comprehensive and significant knowledge and independent application of GAAP. Considerable knowledge of federal, state, and county procedures, policies, regulations, and legislation impacting the maintenance of county financial records and reports.  

Employees in this class are responsible for preparing and analyzing various financial and budgetary reports. Knows the County’s Customer-Centered Culture principles, the County’s Mission, Strategic Plan, and Core Values and demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction for all customers on a regular basis. 


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in a related field working with accounting policies and procedures, internal controls or auditing is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant or equivalent combination of governmental audit experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties may be considered. 
  • Must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment. 
  • May be subject to criminal review. Regular work attendance required.
